ValenciaHi all,
From my understanding, in Buddhist teaching we cannot avoid karma because we are fully responsible for our action. When we pray to Dorje Shugden and he helps us, does that mean that our bad karma is erased or just delayed?
Thanks

Valentina SuhendraDear Valencia
Thank you for your question. You are correct in saying that we are responsible for our actions. When we pray to Dorje Shugden, the protector helps us by ripening the karma that create conducive condition for our practice. When we have the opportunity due to Dorje Shugden’s blessing, we have to do our practice diligently by purifying our karma
In addition,Dorje Shugden sadhana contains Kawang prayer that will help us to purify our negative karma and remove obstacles. Please read about kawang prayer in here to learn how to purify negative karma http://www.dorjeshugden.org/practice/kawang-confessional-prayers-to-dorje-shugden
I hope this explanation is helpful.
Sincerely

ValenciaHi,
Thanks for answering my question. Regarding Kawang prayer and other prayers to purify our karma, I heard that things will get bad at the beginning, perhaps due to the ripening of bad karma you mentioned earlier. I want to start but I am afraid to make things even harder in this life (please confirm). Maybe it’s due to the fact that I don’t really understand the benefit of doing those purification prayers. Would you care to explain how it can make our lives better later on?
Thanks

Valentina SuhendraDear Valencia
Thank you for your question. The following is an excerpt from the article about how Kawang prayer works to help purify our negative karma:
“For those who are elder in age, or have obstacles related to the body, this practice is highly recommended as it purifies karma created from actions related to the body very quickly. It is also effective to clear and stabilise the mind when doubts and confusion arise….
The Kawang is a method to develop a strong spiritual bond with Dorje Shugden, as well as a powerful purification prayer. This prayer facilitates the purification of negative karma, allowing Dorje Shugden to help us further through the creation of conducive conditions for Dharma practice and the elimination of obstacles; therefore it is a central and important prayer for any Dharma student.”
When doing purification practice, sometimes, our negative karma ripen before its time in a lighter version. Instead of being scared, we should rejoice in this case because when our negative karma is purified, many of our prayers will be fulfilled with less obstacles. We will also feel peace and happiness within our mind.
My best wishes in your practice
Valentina
