Yangting Dechen Ling Monastery, also known as Shugden Monastery, is located in Yangding in Kham, Tibet. Kham, as it exists today, encompasses Yushu, Kardze/Ganze, Chamdo and Dechen prefectures as well as parts of Nagchu and Kongpo.
This monastery has produced many illustrious and eminent scholar-monks such as the His Holiness the 101st Gaden Tripa Jetsun Lungrik Namgyal and His Eminence Kyabje Zemey Rinpoche. This is not surprising considering that the region of Kham was famed for producing very qualified high lamas over the ages.
The original monastery was founded by Yogi Je Lodö Namgyal, one of the foremost disciples of Lama Tsongkhapa, in 1421 a couple of years after Jamchen Chöje Shakya Yeshe of Tsel Gungtang founded Sera Monastery in 1419 in Tibet.
The new monastery still stands on the same grounds as the old monastery, and has a new prayer hall which was added during its renovation. This huge prayer hall was inaugurated on 20 August 2010 in a four-day long event. During the festivities, monks and lay practitioners participated in many diverse and virtuous activities. The new prayer hall was built with the specific aim of propagating and disseminating the pure Buddhadharma and the teachings of Je Tsongkhapa specifically.

Hello dear Rinpoche. I found this page and would welcome a reconnection via email. You took two automobile tours with my wife Carol and me Indiana and Michigan in 1990 and 1991. You also had supper at our house once. I hope this finds you in good health! Carol, unfortunately, is in very poor health due to advanced Alzheimer's disease. Please keep her in your thoughts.
Would you do a Puja for Putin to overcome his desire, hate and ignorance?
Best regards

Is greed okay if it helps develop more positivity (in small picture)? Distractions dissolve from themselves, getting involved only expands them, but aren't there hopes to be fulfilled in the long run by innvolment?
7 offering bowls (yes) but how many butter lamps for very small altar ? I am thinking of only one (which I can afford and the space is limited. Is one butter lamp acceptable ?
There are no upcoming events at this time.

Posted on July 14, 2016 #1 AuthorIt’s so inspiring to read of monasteries that expanded and propitiate Lama Tsongkapa’s teachings to many. Yangting Dechen Ling is almost 600 years old and still flourishing, with many great Masters emerging. May this beautiful traditional monastery continue to be blessed with growth and the teachings of Je Tsongkapa spread to benefit more people.

Posted on July 23, 2016 #2 AuthorWow, this is something new to me. Such a very blessed monastery that stood the test of time despite the ravages of war and time. And, going by the name of Shugden Monastery, one will assume that the Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden is of primary importance in this monastery and is propitiated and honored here.
And, to think that eminent scholars such as His Holiness the 101st Gaden Tripa Jetsun Lungrik Namgyal and His Eminence Kyabje Zemey Rinpoche came from this monastery. Really blessed indeed.
Thank you.
